Kellie Dupree

Kellie Dupree is the Director of Programs and Communications at BISC, working in the DC office and managing the overall day-to-day programs and communications work. Her work includes running the BISC-Wellstone training, the Ballot Integrity program and providing strategic assistance to in-state partners.

Before coming to BISC, Kellie worked for Planned Parenthood as VP of Public Policy & Communications for Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida where she oversaw all advocacy, legislative and media work in the affiliate’s 15 county region. Prior to taking that position, she was a Regional Field Manager for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, working with six southern states to amplify their legislative and political work.

Kellie got her start at EMILY’s List where she trained and worked with state legislative candidates, campaign staff and oversaw their youth training program, Campaign Corps. After leaving EMILY’s List Kellie worked with Unity ’09, a coalition advocating for a variety of progressive issues including health care reform. In 2010 and 2011 she worked as the Connecticut State Director for Organizing for America, the Democratic National Committee’s continuation of Obama for America. In early 2011, Kellie took a short leave of absence from the DNC to spend time as a consultant for USAID in Kenya. There she worked with USAID staff and Kenyan youth from around the country to develop and implement an effective youth organizing strategy.

Kellie has participated in many training programs, both as attendee and trainer. She is a graduate of the EMILY’s List project Campaign Corps, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Wellstone Action, Ballot Initiative Strategy Center and New Leaders Council training programs.

Born in Louisiana and raised in Northern Virginia, Kellie’s political career started in 5th grade when she acted as Bill Clinton’s campaign manager in her school’s mock presidential election. He won by a landslide.

Kellie graduated from Wake Forest University, where she studied Political Science, German and International Studies. A fan of good food, Kellie is known to plan her days (and her vacations) around what restaurants she wants to try.
