Kicking off Alumni Engagement in 2015!

February 3, 2015

Recently, we welcomed our newest group of alumni into the Wellstone Action family at an event after our annual Twin Cities Camp Wellstone. The newest class of campers were joined by alumni from past Camps, by a few of our Wellstone Organizing Fellows, and by many more friends and supporters. Alumni were able to network, swap stories, and share what they have been up to since their Wellstone training.

A few of our recent Wellstone Corps members spoke about their experience. Murphy Guinane, an organizer who was based in Michigan during the 2014 campaign cycle shared, “I’ve always worked in retail jobs prior to this experience. What I did as a Wellstone Corps member helped prepare me for my current work being trained as a field organizer for NARAL Pro-Choice America.”

The reception was a kick-off to Wellstone Action’s newest programming, Alumni Engagement. We know that attending a training with us is just one step, and sometimes the initial step. Folks come to our trainings wanting to get involved and do more in their communities, whether it be issue or organizational change work, getting a paid job on a campaign, or running for office. I love when someone tells me, “I came to Camp Wellstone because an alum told me I had to come, and I’m glad they did!” As our alumni network grows to more than 70,000 people across the country, we want to help support those connections.

We invite all of our alumni to join the Wellstone Action Alumni Association group on LinkedIn – this is your space to connect with other alums to ask questions, seek campaign staff, and to share jobs and other resources.

And keep in touch with us, too! We have other ways for our alumni to stay involved  and we are excited to offer resources and continued online trainings this year (details to come!). We love hearing back from you, we love your stories – let us know how you have put your training to use!
