The Sheila Wellstone Institute had a banner year of training in 2009, with 12 trainings across the country focusing on leadership development among domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, as well as an emphasis on Native American Tribal policies for safety on reservations.
In addition to these trainings in which survivors wrote the policies that will make a life-saving difference in their lives and the lives of other women in their communities, SWI also launched new training partnerships in the GLBT and Labor union communities.
This year, SWI and our foundation partners and funders provided training to over 500 surivivors and advocates and in this economy were able to provide over 200 scholarships for survivors and Native women to attend the trainings.
Our list of training partnerships and locations is below - we are very proud of the breadth and depth of our work in 2009 to build power to end domestic and sexual violence.
