The Sheila Wellstone Institute already has several key trainings on the books for 2010, mobilizing survivors and advocates to make their voices heard at state capitols around the country.
SWI is bringing training to the State Capitols of our key targeted states of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. There, survivors and advocates will learn the skills of grassroots citizen lobbying and develop their own policies and messages to bring to legislators about the issues that impact their lives.
In Minnesota, SWI will host a training for battered mothers to learn organizing tools and tactics to forward an agenda that supports their rights to safety for themselves and their families, concluding with visits to legislators and a rally at the Capitol.
In addition to these Capitol trainings, SWI will be continuing a partnership with the North Carolina Coalition to End Domestic Violence with additional trainings scheduled for 2010.
SWI is proud to continue relationships with tribal and state coalitions to bring Camp Sheila to mobilize on state, federal, tribal policies and organize around safe voting and building our movement.
