Make Registration Easy and Fun
In order to register the greatest number of people who will support progressive issues and candidates, it is vital that you facilitate the registration and voting process by coordinating with other local groups and campaigns, providing resources and materials that introduce people to the political process, and offer other forms of support.
- Be approachable. Bring along colorful banners, signs, t-shirts, and/or buttons that clearly identify your group and what it is you're there to do.
- Coordinate with organizers in constituency groups that are related to your campaign; make every effort to ensure that the constituency groups you are trying to register see their communities reflected in your volunteers and your partner organizations.
- Make materials, such as literature, instructions for registering, and registration cards available in multiple languages. Recruit volunteers fluent in these languages to further facilitate registration for people with limited English proficiency.
- Make it clear to people that you're registering that you will be turning in their registration and when, if applicable, they will be receiving their voter registration card.
