Get the Materials
The first thing you'll need is the voter registration cards. Most states accept the national form, available on the Federal Election Commission's website (www.fec.gov)
You can also get the cards from your home state. Contact the secretary of state's office to pick these up. Any citizen has the right to obtain voter registration materials-you do not need to be representing an organization.
If multiple languages are spoken in areas where you will be conducting your drive, make sure to request voter registration cards in those languages.
If you are conducting your drive because of an issue, you will want to have literature on that issue to distribute to people you are registering. For example, if you are concerned about affordable housing in your neighborhood and you want to register voters that share that concern, you will want to have literature that explains all the issues of affordable housing in your community and what they can do about it. This literature, too, should be in multiple languages if applicable.
