proudly stands with our thousands of alumni and dozens of partner
organizations in Wisconsin who are bravely fighting to take back their
state. We hope the good people of WI take Paul Wellstone’s advice today
to “Mumble, grumble, complain, wallow, hope, despair, worry, VOTE!”

As Paul's birthday arrives, people across the nation take time to remember. Here's one especially fitting tribute to the man for whom we stand up and keep fighting.

Thirty-five Latino, Polish, Arab, African and Asian immigrants and children of immigrants were selected to participate in a statewide non-partisan immigrant candidate training program Saturday, July 9th.

Enough, already, of the false starts and the blame games. We Minnesotans are long overdue for some good-faith negotiations and sensible solutions for tackling the enormous state budget deficit.

Wanted: school board members who understand what it means to work in a school, or who will at least listen to those who do. With that ideal candidate in mind, educators and union leaders in Washington state in 10 areas, including three of the state's largest cities - Seattle, Vancouver and Spokane - set out to recruit school board candidates for 2011 and 2012.

Jeff Blodgett, the founding director of Wellstone Action, a national center for training and leadership development, opened his convocation speech last Friday by recalling his own experience of studying with Paul Wellstone at Carleton College during the early 1980s.

We miss his voice still.  Our work is not to find the next Paul Wellstone, but to carry on his work through people who step forward and get active in politics and public life.

In late July, the Cheyenne River Youth Project in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, hosted a special "Native Youth Organizing Training" in part with Wellstone Action.

After the St. Paul wedding dance video became an internet sensation last month, the couple turned their new-found fame into an opportunity to raise money and awareness to combat domestic violence.

Leveraging the surprising popularity of their 'wedding entrance dance' video, Jill and Kevin Heinz decided to link the video to the Sheila Wellstone Institute, dedicated to ending violence against women and children.
