Tax Breaks for Small Businesses to Expand and Create Jobs
A member of the Senate Small Business Committee, Wellstone helped pass an economic stimulus law providing tax incentives for small businesses to expand and create jobs by investing in plants and equipment.

Cutting Red-Tape for Minnesota's Medical Technology Industry
Wellstone worked to cut red-tape, changing the oppressively slow federal review of medical devices. Wellstone's reforms cut review times while protecting consumer safety. Since the reforms became law, medical technology firms have thrived in Minnesota.

Helping Technology Companies Access Minnesota's Rural Workforce
Working with small businesses across Minnesota, Wellstone wrote the Rural Telework Act of 2000, and passed it as part of the 2002 Farm Bill. This Act increases opportunities for technology based businesses to locate and expand in rural areas.

Expanding Broadband Access to Every Corner of the State
As part of the recently passed farm bill, Wellstone supported grants to rural communities to expand access to broadband technology that encourages job growth.

Improving Job Training Services
Wellstone introduced the "Wellstone Workforce Recovery" bill to provide tax breaks for working families, an extension of unemployment insurance, health care benefits for laid-off workers, $2 billion in new job training programs, additional funding for child care, and relief for small businesses.

"Growing" Minnesota Jobs with Strong Incentives for Bio-Fuels
Paul Wellstone's tireless work to support renewable bio-fuels like corn ethanol and soy-based bio-diesel has produced jobs in Minnesota's rural communities. The incredible growth in Minnesota's bio-fuel industry is a victory for Minnesota's farmers, the economy and the environment.

Helping Small Businesses Access Capital
On the Small Business Committee, Paul Wellstone has focused on expanding access to capital for small businesses. Wellstone has championed micro-loan programs that provide capital to very small start-up businesses that are often denied other loan options.
