Wellstone Action Alumni Victories

We make change happen. Across the country, at hundreds of trainings, events, and strategy sessions every year, Wellstone Action inspires leaders and transforms organizations to win progressive change, the Wellstone Way. We take passionate progressives and arm them with the strategies, tools, and skills to win big, reclaiming a people-first politics that works for everybody, not just the privileged few. We’ve grown a lot over the past ten years, but one thing will never change: our focus on developing authentic leaders at all levels of government. Our Alumni are winning tough fights and immediate progressive change that lead to enduring progressive governing power. We certainly didn’t get everthing we wanted in 2014, but together we won some major victories across the United States in the last few years. Over the past 11 years, we've propelled over 800 alumni into elected office (200 in 2014 alone!), and guided over 3,4000 winning campaigns. Through your steady support, Wellstone helped deliver victory after victory for social justice across the country, in blue states, red states, purple states - 27 states in total, in fact. Here are just a few of the ways we won this day, the Wellstone Way:

  • In 2014, over 200 of our alumni ran for office and won in states including: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Washington, and Wisconsin (that's 23 states!).
  • Alongside our incredible partners at Ballot Initiative Strategy Center, who won vital ballot measure victories: reproductive justice in Colorado and North Dakota; earned sick leave for workers in Massachusetts; smart education policy for students in Missouri; protections for voters in Montana; groundbreaking gun-control provisions in Washington
  • Our Wellstone Corps class of emerging organizers pulled out a commanding Senate victory in Michigan and throughout the course of this election made connections with nearly 2.1 million voters. The Wellstone Corps built enduring progressive power in Georgia, Kentucky, Colorado, and North Carolina
  • The 33 members of the Wellstone Organizing Fellows in Minnesota recruited over 1,000 volunteers and reached out to over 100,000 people to get out the vote and lift up their communities!
