As the head of Wellstone Action's Camp Wellstone and Advanced Campaign Management School (ACMS) programs, Jen Haut-Prokop puts to use her organizing skills to make these programs run. While at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, she worked as a peace and justice student organizer, creating publications to educate the campus community on issues of environmentalism, fair trade, and political advocacy.
Jen moved to Minnesota in 2006 to participate in the St. Joseph Worker Program, a year-long volunteer experience for young women committed to social change. She worked at St. Catherine University in a civic engagement and service-learning office, pairing students with community-based internships that were integrated back into their coursework. During the 2008 election, Jen furthered her involvement in the community, working with the Minnesota Civic Engagement Table's nonpartisan efforts to increase voter turnout.
She credits her upbringing in Iowa, paired with an internship at NETWORK, a National Catholic Social Justice Lobby in Washington, D.C., for her passion for progressive politics. Jen also served on the NETWORK Education Program Board and currently serves on the St. Joseph Worker Program Advisory Council. She is excited for where her Camp Wellstone travels will take her next.
