Yusufi Vali is an organizer for the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization, an affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation. His exposure to organizing and electoral politics happened only recently, while working on the Obama Campaign. Starting in summer 2008, he began working as an Obama field organizer with the responsibility of organizing two senate districts and doing outreach to the Somali community. His experience on the campaign was transformational, as it led him to drop a career in academia in favor of one in organizing.
