Bill Lofy is a communications strategist and trainer based in northern Vermont currently serving as deputy political director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. A longtime former staffer to the late Senator Paul Wellstone, he has worked as a senior trainer for Wellstone Action since 2003 and served as the organization's communications director from 2003 to 2005. Lofy recently completed a five-month project managing a major earned media campaign for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee aimed at unseating Senator John E. Sununu of New Hampshire.
Other clients include the Vermont Speaker of the House, Vermont Freedom to Marry Coalition, and the Brady Campaign to End Gun Violence.
In addition to his communications consulting work, Lofy is the author of an acclaimed biography of Wellstone and co-author with Jeff Blodgett of two other books, including the forthcoming Winning Elections the Wellstone Way (University of Minnesota Press). A former Peace Corps Volunteer in the Cape Verde Islands in West Africa, Lofy also served as a development worker in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and holds a master's degree in international development from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. He lives in Jericho, Vermont with his wife and infant son, Ben.
