Karen Lopez is the NY VOTE Coordinator for Families United for Racial and Economic Equality (FUREE).
She is a Californian by way of Colombia and has been part of the social justice movement since she was very young. Her identity as an immigrant, woman, and Latina has shaped her path to her two passions; teaching and organizing. Karen is currently a student at New York University studying Education, Latino Studies, Sociology and Organizing. Her first big organizing experience was during the 2004 presidential election with the League of Pissed Off Voters as Florida State Organizer. She has also had experience organizing immigrant restaurant workers with ROCNY.
