Alyse Erman is a graduate of the University of Michigan Residential College, where she studied social science with a focus on comparative religion and culture.
While in college, Alyse spent time abroad in Thailand where she saw the dramatic effects of globalization and development on local communities. It is here that she first understood organizing and peoples' true capacity to make change. Alyse returned to the U.S. energized and with a new passion for social justice. After college she began work as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Jewish Community Action in St. Paul, Minnesota. For the last two years as a community organizer at JCA, Alyse has worked to bring the Jewish community together to build power and address issues of affordable housing and racism. Currently, Alyse is a bit of a nomad as she attempts a move from Minneapolis to New York.
