Training Program Coordinator / Senior Trainer
Born in Jalisco, Mexico, Adriana Barboza grew up on the south side of Chicago. She is a 2005 graduate of the University of Wisconsin atMadison, where she received her bachelor's degree in legal studies with minors in women's studies and Chicano studies. As a student, Adriana was very involved in campus leadership, including work as co-chair of Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan. She was a representative to the organization's national coordinating council and worked on several state and national campaigns, including the Taco Bell campaign and the federal DREAM Act. She also co-chaired the campus group La Mujer Latina and served on the financial committee of Associated Students of Madison, the university's student government organization. In 2005,Adriana worked for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials in the Washington office of U.S. Congressman Luis Gutierrez. She spent her first year out of college teaching at Eagle Rock, a progressive independent high school in Colorado. Adriana serves as the organization's Training Program Coordinator for Camp Wellstone,the Voter Engagement Schools program, and Wellstone Organizing Fellows.
